89 Students Graduated from our Three Master’s Programmes

12 November 2021

89 students graduated last week from our three master’s programmes – 48 for our LLM in International Humanitarian Law and Human Rights (LLM), 27 for our MAS in Transitional Justice, Human Rights and the Rule of Law (MTJ) and 14 for our Executive Master in International Law in Armed Conflict (Executive Master).

With more than 250 guests – students and their families and friends, Faculty members and Geneva Academy staff –, the Graduation Ceremony was the occasion to celebrate this important milestone, congratulate our students for this achievement and say goodbye.

‘Graduation ceremonies are always an important moment in our students’ life at the Geneva Academy. It was great to be able to do it again in-person’ says Professor Gloria Gaggioli, Director of the Geneva Academy.

‘We look forward to hearing from our new alumni and their life after the Geneva Academy. We are very confident that they will pursue their dreams and become tomorrow’s leaders and decision-makers in the humanitarian, human rights or transitional justice fields’ she adds.

Inspiring Speeches

Inspiring speeches by representatives of our three programmes – Lea Redae for our LLM, Sashi Windsor for our MAS and Zsolt Spindler for our Executive Master – highlighted some key moments of the programmers, the challenges of studying during the pandemic and our students’ resilience, the strong bonds created and the solidarity among students throughout the year.

In the ceremony’s keynote speech, Professor Olivier de Frouville addressed transitional justice and the need to also look at it from a global perspective, giving food for thought to graduating students for their future careers.

Awards recipients – Harriet Macey for the 2021 Henry Dunant Research Prize, Maxime Nijs for the 2021 Best LLM Paper Prize and Dasha Reddy for the 2021 Best MTJ Paper Prize – presented their paper’s topics and respective research.
