Olivier de Frouville, Professor of Public Law at the University of Paris 2 (Panthéon-Assas) and Director of the Paris Human Rights Center (C.R.D.H.), joined the Geneva Human Rights Platform Advisory Board.
Composed of leading human rights experts and practitioners, this body provides guidance on the platform’s strategy, priorities and activities.
Professor de Frouville’s involvement in the GHRP Advisory Board builds on the long cooperation of the platform and the Geneva Academy with Professor de Frouville and the Paris Human Rights Center around specific projects, teaching and events.
‘We’re very pleased to have Professor de Frouville on our Advisory Board. His expertise, network and knowledge of Geneva-based human rights mechanisms will greatly enrich our reflection on how the GHRP can best accompany and support these’ explains Felix Kirchmeier, Executive Director of the Geneva Human Rights Platform.

Professor de Frouville has worked for more than twenty years as an expert in the United Nations (UN) human rights system and knows this environment extremely well. As a current member of the UN Committee on Enforced Disappearances, he is involved in the monitoring of the International Convention for the Protection of All Persons from Enforced Disappearances and has first-hand insights into the work and challenges faced by UN treaty bodies.
His fields of research include general international law, the theory of international law, international human rights law, international humanitarian law and international criminal law.
‘In a few years, the Geneva Human Rights Platform has become a major actor in the Geneva human rights landscape, at the juncture of academic research and practice. Being both an academic and a long time practitioner of the UN human rights system, I feel privileged to be able to advise, together with other experts, on the present and future missions and prospects of the GHRP’ says Professor de Frouville
