Giulio Bartolini is Professor of International Law at Roma Tre University where he is also responsible for the IHL Legal Clinic.
He is editor-in-chief of the Yearbook of International Disaster Law (Brill) and director of training courses on ‘International Disaster Law’ managed in cooperation with the Sanremo IIHL and the IFRC Disaster Law Programme.
He has acted as legal assistant to the United Nations International Law Commission Special Rapporteur on the ‘Protection of Persons in the Event of Disasters’ and is co-organizer of the ‘International and Comparative Law Essay Contest’ managed by the ASIL Disaster Law Interest Group and the IFRC. He is also the Academic Coordinator of the EU-funded Jean Monnet Project ‘Disseminating Disaster Law for Europe’ (2019-2021).
Professor Bartolini is also managing Director of the bi-lingual e-journal ‘Questions of International Law’ and has been responsible for the Doctoral Networking Sessions at the Hague Academy of International Law. He routinely cooperates with the Italian Red Cross as head of its IHL Scientific Committee and with the Italian Armed Forces. In 2019 the NATO SHAPE ACO Legal Office conferred him the ‘Serge Lazareff Prize’ for excellence in legal service for the benefit of NATO.
