Which Seeds for Organic, Agroecology, Low-Input and Peasant Seed Systems?

Event

The European Parliament The European Parliament

This conference at the European Parliament and online aims at discussing the upcoming EU revision on seed marketing and the protection of the rights of peasants. It will reflect on the scope of the legislation (whether it applies to the exchange and sale of seeds by farmers, to seed conservation work, and to the sale to non-professionals), and explore pathways for the registration of varieties and populations adapted to organic and low-input growing conditions.

Our Senior Research Fellow and Strategic Adviser on Economic, Social and Cultural Rights Dr Christophe Golay will discuss the exchange and sale of seeds by farmers and peasants and how the EU revision could implement the provisions of the United Nations Declaration on the Rights of Peasants

This conference is hosted by MEPs Martin HÄUSLING (Greens/EFA), Eric ANDRIEU (S&D), Norbert LINS (EPP), Dacian CIOLOS (RENEW) and Anja HAZEKAMP (GUE/NGL), and co-organised by ARCHE NOAH, the Geneva Academy, IFOAM Organics Europe (EU), and Demeter International.
