Violations of economic, social and cultural rights (such as those related to food crises, forced evictions, and massive unemployment) are both causes and consequences of armed conflict. A report presented in 2016 by the United Nations High Commissioner for Human Rights suggests measures to better protect these rights and prevent armed conflict. Other actors focus on the impact of certain weapons on these rights, or on the need to protect the right to education before, during and after armed conflict. The panelists will discuss these issues, with the aim to identify ways forward.
