The Board is composed of independent individuals representing the Geneva Academy’s founding institutions – the Graduate Institute of International and Development Studies and the University of Geneva – and main partners. Major management decisions and the Geneva Academy strategy are discussed with, and approved by, the Board.

Nicolas Michel

President of the Board, Professor Emeritus at the Law Faculty, University of Geneva, and the Graduate Institute of International and Development Studies

Nicolas Michel is an internationally recognized expert in international law. Since September 2015 he has been the UN Secretary-General’s political and legal facilitator for the Syria Talks.

Vincent Bernard

Editor in Chief of the of the International Review of the Red Cross and Head of the Law and Policy Forum, International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC)

As a leading expert in international humanitarian law and humanitarian action, he leads ICRC’s legal outreach unit and publishes widely on international law in armed conflict, humanitarian action and the role of the ICRC.

Andrea Bianchi

Professor of International Law at the Graduate Institute of International and Development Studies

Andrea Bianchi's work focuses on topics that range from international law theory, international human rights law, security and counter-terrorism, the law of jurisdiction and jurisdictional immunities to state responsibility and the law of treaties.

Christine Chappuis

Dean of the Law Faculty at the University of Geneva

Christine Chappuis has been Dean of the Law Faculty at the University of Geneva since 2012.

Vincent Chetail

Professor of International Law at the Graduate Institute of International and Development Studies

Vincent Chetail's areas of research relate to refugee and migrant law, humanitarian law and human rights, international criminal law, collective security and peacekeeping.

Andreas Ziegler

Professor of International Law at the University of Lausanne

Andreas Ziegler regularly advises governments, international organizations, NGOs and private clients and represents them before various domestic and international courts and arbitral tribunals.
