Stavros-Evdokimos Pantazopoulos

Dr Stavros-Evdokimos Pantazopoulos is a post-doctoral researcher with the Toxic Crimes project of the Erik Castrén Institute of International Law and Human Rights at the University of Helsinki, and a Senior Research Fellow at the Hellenic Foundation for European and Foreign Policy. Formerly, Stavros was a Researcher at the TMC Asser Institute, and the Legal and Policy Analyst of the Conflict and Environment Observatory, a UK-based NGO aiming to raise awareness of the environmental impacts of armed conflict. He obtained his Ph.D degree in international law from the EUI, and his research focuses on the legal aspects of environmental protection during and after armed conflicts.

Stavros is a founding member of the Environmental Peacebuilding Association and the Chair of its Law Interest Group. He is also a member of the World Commission on Environmental Law, and a Fellow at the Athens Public International Law Center. Stavros is the Managing Editor of the Yearbook of International Humanitarian Law, and an Associate Fellow with the TMC Asser Institute.

Stavros holds LLM degrees in international law from the University of Athens, the LSE, and the EUI. He has visited the University of Michigan Law School as Michigan Grotius Research Scholar. Stavros has been a visiting researcher at the Faculty of Law of the University of Athens, and at iCourts of the University of Copenhagen. He has also been a Teaching Fellow at SciencesPo, Reims campus, the University of Amsterdam, and the University of Athens. Stavros teaches and publishes in the field of public international law, focusing especially on international humanitarian law and international environmental law.
