Understanding that research skills are always required in the international community and that possessing such skills may assist the students in finding future jobs, perform their tasks properly and even assist them later on improving their legal writing skills, the Academy offers its students with the rare opportunity of taking part in on-going research projects supervised by the Academy professors and experienced researchers.
The students will have the possibility to assist in an IHL and Human Rights research project, use different types of resources and formulate a well articulated research analysis which in turn will be supervised by the Academy researcher and be part of a whole research project such as the Geneva Conventions Commentary project.
Past students that have participated in research projects at the Academy have strongly recommended such activities and their extremely important value. Among the feedbacks received by these past students one could find the following:
| “I believe that it is fundamental for any lawyer to develop such skills” (Emanuela Prisciani, assisting research for the Geneva Conventions Commentary project) |
| “I think that the internship is a great way to learn more about specific issues that cannot be dealt with in the course of a class. Internships allow the student to analyze an issue that interests him or her in more details.” (Amelie Larocque, assisting research for providing a standard of proof in Humanitarian Fact-Finding Missions project). |
Thus the students are encouraged to take part in these research activities in order to improve their research and writing skills, preparing them to the work of an international lawyer and jurist.
