Julio has experience with research on international human rights law, international humanitarian law and international criminal law, especially on issues involving non-state actors and the interplay between those branches in the Inter-American and UN human rights systems.

Before joining the Geneva Academy as a Consultant, Julio completed an internship at the GHRP where he worked on the optimization and efficiency process of the UN Human Rights Council. Prior to this experience, he worked as a research assistant on IHL and IHRL at the Federal University of Rio Grande do Sul (Brazil) and the Justus Liebig University Giessen (Germany). He is also the Co-Founder of UFRGS IHL Clinic and currently serves as its IHL Adviser, in addition to working as a Legal Fellow at the Independent International Legal Advocates (IILA).

Julio holds a Master of Laws (LLM) in International Humanitarian Law and Human Rights from the Geneva Academy and a Bachelor of Laws (LLB) from the Federal University of Rio Grande do Sul, with inter-university exchange program at the Justus Liebig University Giessen.
