Claude Wild

Ambassador Claude Wild has been appointed Head of the Political Division IV, Human Security of the Federal Department of Foreign Affairs (FDFA) and has taken over his duties as from August 2010.
He studied political science and specialised in international security studies at the Graduate Institute of International Studies in Geneva. As a Swiss Military Officer, he participated in two UN Peacekeeping operations in Namibia from 1989 to 1990 and Western Sahara from 1991 to 1992. He started his diplomatic career in 1992, at the Directorate for Swiss Development Cooperation and then held several diplomatic postings in Berne at the FDFA and at Swiss Representations/Missions abroad: Lagos, Vienna, Berne (Peacekeeping) Moscow, Berne (EU Affairs), Ottawa and most recently as Minister and Deputy Head of the Swiss Mission to the European Union in Brussels. Ambassador Wild is married and has two teenage children.
