 | The Academy reached the semi-finals of the Jean Pictet Competition on International Humanitarian Law
The 21st edition of the Jean Pictet Competition on International Humanitarian Law took place in Evian on 28 March – 4 April 2009. Julie Pertusio, Caroline Simond and Marc Morel (MAS students) excellently represented the Geneva Academy of International Humanitarian Law and Human Rights. Proving their outstanding knowledge of international humanitarian law, the three students reached the semi-finals of the competition.

----------------------------- The Charles Rousseau Public International Law Moot Court CompetitionThe 2008 session of the Charles Rousseau Moot Court competition, which took place from 26 April to 3 May 2008 in Hammamet and Tunis (Tunisia), was particularly focused on themes of interest to the Geneva Academy of International Humanitarian Law and Human Rights. The hypothetical case, designed to challenge french speaking students from universities around the world, was under the jurisdiction of the International Criminal Court, and involved allegations of the crime of aggression, war crimes, crimes against humanity, and genocide. The students, transformed for the occassion into advocates for the Prosecution (Marlène Waefler and Amaury Gillier) and for the Defence (Sara Barka and Emile Ouedraogo) at the International Criminal Court, represented the Academy brilliantly, making it to the semi-finals and winning the prize for the 3rd best memoire. The team trained throughout the long year, learning and improving on questions specific to public international law, international humanitarian law and international criminal law, as well as the art of advocacy, under the coaching of Anne-Laurence Brugère (coach). Thanks to all of the people who participated in preparing the team (professors, assistants and friends), from near and far. Offical website for the competition: http://www.rfdi.net/rousseau.html |
